How to Install the Portable AC Charger (3–22 kW)

Last updated Aug 18, 2026

A dé portable AC charger does not require permanent installation or hardwiring when a matching, correctly grounded power outlet is already available. Check the charger version and input plug, connect it to the matching outlet, make the required settings, and then connect the Type 2 plug to the vehicle.

Important: Use only a power outlet that matches the charger plug and is correctly grounded. Do not modify the charger plug or connect it to an incompatible outlet.

Before you begin

  1. Check the power rating and input plug on the product label.
  2. Confirm that the available outlet matches the charger plug.
  3. Inspect the plug, control box, cables and Type 2 connector for visible damage.
  4. Do not use the charger if any part is damaged.

If you are unsure which instructions apply to your charger, find the correct version in the Portable AC Charger user manuals.

Connect the correct input plug

7 kW Portable EV Charger Connect the 32 A CEE plug to a matching, correctly grounded CEE outlet.
11 kW Portable EV Charger Connect the 16 A CEE plug to a matching, correctly grounded CEE outlet.

Note: The charger itself does not require an electrician to connect it to an existing matching outlet. Installing or changing a power outlet is separate electrical work and must not be attempted through this guide.

Prepare the charger before connecting the vehicle

  1. Use the charger controls to select the charging current.
  2. Set the charging start time or delay time if required.
  3. Check that the selected settings are shown on the charger screen.

For the controls and screen symbols, see Charger Screen and Button Functions Explained.

Important: Complete the current and charging-time settings before plugging the Type 2 connector into the vehicle. These settings cannot be changed after the Type 2 connector has been plugged into the vehicle's charging port.

Connect the Type 2 plug

  1. After completing the charger settings, insert the Type 2 plug into the vehicle's charging port.
  2. Check the charger screen for the vehicle connection status.
  3. Continue with How to Start Charging in Plug-and-Play Mode for the charging procedure.

Optional wall-mounted placement

The portable charger can be moved between suitable locations or placed on a wall using the holder supplied with the applicable product version. Accessories vary, so check the package list and instructions for your exact charger before mounting the holder.
