An IP66 rating describes how the rated enclosure is protected against dust and water entering it. For the dé product information provided, IP66 applies to the control box. The Type 2 plug coupling has a separate IP55 rating.
What the two digits in IP66 mean
IP stands for Ingress Protection. The two digits describe different types of protection:

| First 6 | Dust protection | The enclosure is rated as dust-tight under the specified test conditions. |
| Second 6 | Water protection | The enclosure is protected against powerful water jets from different directions under the specified test conditions. |

Important: Do not apply the control box's IP66 rating to the complete charger or every connector. Each component should be checked according to its own rating.
What IP66 does not mean
IP66 should not be described as “completely waterproof”. It is a defined enclosure protection rating, not a general guarantee for every condition or every part of the charger.
