Match an AC charger to your vehicle’s maximum AC charging power, phase support and Type 2 inlet. For a DC charger, check the vehicle’s maximum DC charging power, CCS2 inlet and supported DC charging voltage. The specifications below apply to the European-standard dé products covered by the current manuals.
Important: Do not use the vehicle’s battery capacity in kWh to select charger power. Charger power is measured in kW.
Find the correct vehicle specifications
Check your vehicle manual or the vehicle manufacturer’s official specifications. Record the information that matches the charger category you are considering.
| Charger category | Vehicle information to check |
|---|---|
| Portable AC Charger or AC Wallbox | Maximum AC charging power, single-phase or three-phase support, and Type 2 inlet |
| DC Wallbox | Maximum DC charging power, CCS2 inlet, and supported DC charging voltage |
The vehicle’s DC fast-charging figure cannot be used to choose a 3.7, 7, 11 or 22 kW AC charger. Look specifically for “Maximum AC charging power,” “AC charging,” or “On-board charger.”
Compare single-output AC chargers
The following Portable EV Chargers and AC Wallboxes use a Type 2 connection on the vehicle side.
| Product family | Product version | Maximum power | Power and phase specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portable EV Charger | 3.7 kW | 3.7 kW | 230 V, 16 A, single-phase |
| Portable EV Charger | 7 kW | 7.36 kW | 230 V, 32 A, single-phase |
| Portable EV Charger | 11 kW | 11 kW | 400 V, 16 A, three-phase at maximum power |
| AC Wallbox with Cable | 7 kW | 7.4 kW | 230 V, 32 A, single-phase |
| AC Wallbox with Cable | 11 kW | 11 kW | 400 V, 16 A, three-phase |
| AC Wallbox with Cable | 22 kW | 22 kW | 400 V, 32 A, three-phase |
| AC Wallbox with Socket | 7 kW | 7.4 kW | 230 V, 32 A, single-phase |
| AC Wallbox with Socket | 11 kW | 11 kW | 400 V, 16 A, three-phase |
| AC Wallbox with Socket | 22 kW | 22 kW | 400 V, 32 A, three-phase |
Note: A Type 2 charging cable is not included with the AC Wallbox with Socket. A separate Type 2 cable is required to connect the Wallbox socket to the vehicle.
Compare dual-output AC Wallboxes
For a dual-output charger, check the power available at each output rather than treating the combined product name as the power delivered to one vehicle.
| Product | Power configurations listed in the manual | Power supply | Vehicle connection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual 2x22 kW Wallbox with Socket | 22+22, 22+11, 11+11, 7+7 or 3.5+3.5 kW | 400 V AC, three-phase | Two Type 2 sockets |
| Dual 2x11 kW Wallbox with Cables | 11+11 or 3.5+3.5 kW | 400 V AC, three-phase | Two Type 2 cables |
| Dual 2x7 kW Wallbox with Cables | 7+7, 7+3.5 or 3.5+3.5 kW | 230 V AC, single-phase | Two Type 2 cables |
When comparing a dual Wallbox with a vehicle, use the listed power for the individual output that will charge that vehicle.
Compare DC Wallboxes
The dé DC Wallboxes covered by the current manual use a CCS2 charging connector. Check that your vehicle has a CCS2 inlet and that its DC charging specifications fall within the charger’s listed output range.
| Product version | Maximum power | DC output range | Vehicle connection |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 kW DC Wallbox | Up to 20 kW | 200–1000 V DC, 0–65 A | CCS2 |
| 30 kW DC Wallbox | Up to 30 kW | 200–1000 V DC, 0–80 A | CCS2 |
| 40 kW DC Wallbox | Up to 40 kW | 200–1000 V DC, 0–125 A | CCS2 |
Do not use the vehicle’s AC charging rating to choose between the 20, 30 and 40 kW DC Wallboxes. Use the official DC charging specifications for the exact vehicle model, model year and sales region.
Complete the comparison
- Decide whether you need an AC or DC charger.
- Confirm the vehicle’s AC Type 2 or DC CCS2 inlet.
- Find the vehicle’s maximum AC or DC charging power.
- For AC charging, confirm whether the vehicle supports single-phase or three-phase charging.
- For DC charging, confirm the vehicle’s supported DC charging voltage.
- Compare the vehicle information with the applicable product table above.
- Separately confirm that the installation site has the power supply required by the selected charger.
Note: The figures in this article are charger specifications. They should not be presented as a guaranteed charging power or charging time for every vehicle.
If the vehicle specifications are unclear
Contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealer and provide the exact model, model year and sales region. Ask for the vehicle’s maximum AC charging power and phase support, or its maximum DC charging power, charging voltage and connector type.
For the charger specifications, review the relevant Portable AC Charger manuals, AC Wallbox manuals or DC Wallbox manual.
